(Al-Anfal) 8 : 19

If you ask for a decision, then the decision has already come to you. Yet if you stop, it would be better for you; while if you aggress again, We too shall aggress. Your forces will not give you an advantage no matter how numerous it is. Indeed, Lord Allah is with the believers.

The disbelievers at Mecca prayed by holding the veil of Ka’ba: “Oh Allah, you prosper the truthful from the two groups”. Thus, being a reply to this prayer, in the Battle of Bad’r Lord defeated the disbelievers. Their vehemence in battle, numerous in soldiers and weapons didn’t benefit them. The Day of Bad’r separated the Truth and false. That is why that day is known as ‘Day of Criterion’. Adhikr revealed as the Criterion and Guidance for entire mankind as explained in verse 2: 185. But the hypocrites and their blind followers are neither utilizing It nor are giving It to others, thus they are perishing themselves as explained in verses 6: 25-26. It is told in verse 22: 40: “Allah will surely help those who help Him; indeed, Allah is the Powerful and Exalted in Might”. It is told in verse 47: 7 that “If you help Lord, He will help you and brace your feet firmly”.

This verse was revealed addressing the disbelievers in Mecca after the Battle of Bad’r. But in the next year in Battle of Uh’d Lord supported the believers in the beginning. But later in this battle followers were defeated. It was happened so to separate the hypocrites from the believers among the followers as explained in verses 3: 166-167. After Messenger migrated to Medina, Meccan disbelievers didn’t receive any verse. Instead, Lord’s verses were received but the followers at Medina. From this, the believers can understand that the Lord will not punish those who didn’t receive Adhikr-His Book. But He will punish the hypocrites who knowingly hide Adhikr and their blind followers who reject It. Impartial Lord will not guide anyone to Paradise or Hell. Instead, the read, touched and heard Book will argue and witness against them and will push them into Hell. See explanation 2: 159-161; 3: 10, 160; 7: 47-49; and 8: 11.
